Eyes Like Stars
Aside from the beautiful cover art, which I have already admitted to being a sucker for, it took me a while to figure out if I liked this book, or if it was just to juvenile for me. Normally, if you have to think about whether or not you liked the book, then it’s a bad sign. However, I think for this particular work, I’ll make an exception.
The writing was fairly simple… almost to the point of lazy. That I really didn’t like. And for the first few chapters, it seemed like another Cat Royal (A J fic no less), a book about an orphan girl’s adventures in a theater. But then… I really don’t know what changed. There was a lot of ridiculous humor, though somehow written in with a much graver undertone. By the end of the book I was convinced that it was all a great metaphor for coming of age. It just worked out.
Anyway, I’m waiting with great anticipation for the sequel, Perchance to Dream. As although it’s already been released, I’m having a awful trouble finding it.
