Fang
So finally this book comes out, and I along with many many other max fans, ran to get it. The surprising thing was that I was expecting to be disappointed by it, so I was not disappointed. The Maximum ride series is pretty sci fi, there is lots of scientists and evil billionaires and mutants. For those familiar with the series, bear with me. A group of young kids, raised in dog cages, are only 98% human. They are 2% avian. Max (15) is the main character, and she is the leader of the flock. Her right hand man is Fang (15), and there are 4 other members getting progressively younger. They go around and are almost killed multiple times, and try to save the world. But as cool as that may sound (the first few books lived up to it), the series has been running into some issues. The main one being that the author has been adding Global Warming to the plot line, when really; the plot lines are jam packed enough as it is. There was a similar problem in Fang, but it came in the form of adding another person to flock. An eight month old guy, who looks and behaves like a fifteen year old guy. So, that didn’t work very well, and was a little unnecessary to the rest of the book. The book cover claims that Fang will die and I’m not going to tell you what happens. Sorry.
Other than the plot issues, the writing was terrible as per the last 2 books, the sentences were short, boring, and the sarcasm became a little annoying. Something that had been avoided up until this book. I’ll give Patterson credit for that.
In the end, a good read if you’ve read the series, but not the best book you could lay your hands on.
