Steampunk

No definition here.  I know what steampunk is in that I can put books into that genre, but I don’t have a definition. For once Wikipedia just made things worse. So no definition as of yet, but there might be in the future. Maybe you can gather from what it is through the books I put here.

  • Airborn- Kenneth Oppel
  • Pastworld- Ian Beck
  • The Time Machine- HG Wells
  • Airman- Eoin Colfer
  • The Golden Compass- Philip Pullman
  • Mainspring- ?

Steampunk is basically future mixed with the past. Like taking machinery to the 1700′s. The look to the machinery is generally “old” looking though. And for writing it would have the same feel…a futuristic past?

(I’m a huge fan of the steampunk clothing style.)
